If you are interested in the cost of building a tiny house here is our budget sheet in progress for a 22 foot long, 8 foot wide tiny house with a 12×8 loft.

I’ll post the weight of everything here too for those wondering how much one of these babies weighs.  We’re wondering the same thing! Lets hope it isn’t more than we can pull….

So basically, you have nothing but a lot of exciting ideas at this point. 🙂

Well, since we moved to Oregon we now know 4 people who actually have tiny houses, we’ve been in them, helped build them and now know a lot more about how to go about making one of our own. We have new friends who have offered to lend tools and help. Friends with experience. We have also scoped out all the recycled building material places, shopped for land and have a building date: July 2011. And we’re still saving money for parts. All this in just the last 3 months so it feels like progress to me. Ideas is where it all begins. The whole tiny house thing has gone from a few random folks, in the last 3 years, to epidemic. At least here in the N. West. Everyone’s doing it. When you can have a house without a mortgage or bank involved for under 20k you know you’re doing something right.

This is great that you posted your budget! To date you are the only other Tiny Houser who has given a good accounting costs sheet. I take some flak for mine – but then you can’t please everyone. The cost sheets are one of my highest hits as far as bringing people into my blog.
Great to see that you made it in! You have a sweet caravan!

We have landed and after all the struggle, adventure, drama etc it all seems so worthwhile. We are now parked in a lovely and peaceful place just north of Santa Rosa. Bucolic bliss has become a reality. I got everything on my list: well water, garden, wildlife, quiet (can't even hear airplanes!) and lovely neighbors. Thanks to everyone for the prayers, help, moral support, and patience during this challenging project. About another year and we should be finished.... Ha : )
